Skills: Instrumental
Throughout my education and over the various consulting jobs I have worked with many instruments. My strongest skills are with spectroscopic methods though I have learned about and worked with many other instruments as well. I have below the different instruments that I have personally worked with but it should be mentioned that when a person studies for a PhD in analytical chemistry they should have the skills to learn about new instruments fairly quickly. I believe I obtained this skill through my teachings at UKY and have a firm belief that when presented with problems the best person for the job is one that knows how to learn the issues quickly, not the one that coincidentally knows that specific problem. The chances of that same person being proficient in the next problem is highly unlikely. I have listed below the instruments that I have worked with directly with my proficiency in parenthesis (fair < good < excellent).
Graduate:
NIRS (excellent), ARS (excellent), UV/Vis (excellent), CMB Devices (good), NMR (good)
Undergrad:
Electrospray MS (good), LCMS (good), GCMS (good), Peptide Synthesizer (fair), Fluorimetry (excellent), AA (good), IR (excellent), X-ray Spectroscopy (fair).
